Steel City Sound ALUMNI NIGHT!

All GCHS Band Alumni are invited to come out and perform with the Steel City Sound Pep Band on Tuesday, January 3rd. We will meet in the band room at 6pm to warm-up and tune. Don't forget to wear your Warrior Red!

IMEA All-State Band Festival Honors

CONGRATULATIONS to the following students on being selected to the Illinois Music Educators Association ALL-STATE Festival.

BAND:
Luke Davis - Trombone
Matt Kriegel - Percussion
Kristin Schellhardt - Euphonium
Chris Smith - Tuba

ORCHESTRA:
DeAnna Domagalski - Clarinet
Rachael Hutson - French Horn

The students will travel to Peoria, Illinois, on January 25th where they will audition for their seats in the 2012 IMEA All-State Festival Band and Orchestra. The students will rehearse with the best student musicians from all over the state for the next two days. These rehearsals culminate with the All-State Concert, held in the Peoria Civic Center on January 28th. This is the highest honor a high school musician can receive and we are extremely proud of them!

IMEA District VI Jazz Festival

CONGRATULATIONS to the following students on being selected to the Illinois Music Educators Association District VI Jazz Festival!

Conor Mathenia - Tenor Sax
Justin Miles - Guitar

The students will travel to Belleville West High School on November 12th where they will rehearse with the finest high school musicians from Southern Illinois! These rehearsals culminate with the All-District Concert, held in the BWHS Center for the Arts. This is one of the highest honors high school musicians can receive and we are very proud of them!

The students will travel to Southern Illinois University - Carbondale on November 5th where they will rehearse with the finest high school musicians from Southern Illinois! These rehearsals culminate with the All-District Concert, held in the Shryock Auditorium. This is one of the highest honors a high school musician can receive and we are very proud of them!
